Bridging Visa

We all know that to get the right Australia Visa can be easy and complicated at the same time. Applying for the right Bridging option can be a complex path to follow.

This temporary visa allows you to stay in Australia while you are changing your visa regime for a new one.

At Get Your Visa we are aware of the variety of Bridging options, bridging visa costs and application fees; this is the reason why we carefully assess your personal situation in order to choose the right option.

Visas Currently Available:

  • Bridging Visa A (subclass 010): This type of  Visa  (BVA) allows you to stay in Australia after your current visa expires and while your substantive application for another visa is being processed. It can be granted if you lodge the application in Australia while you still hold a substantive visa. A BVA does not allow you to return to Australia if you leave.
  • Bridging Visa B (subclass 020): Application for bridging Visa B (BVB) allows you to leave and return to Australia while your application for a substantive visa is being processed. Provided you return to Australia within the specified travel period, a BVB will then allow you to stay in Australia while your substantive visa application is being processed.
  • Bridging Visa C (subclass 030): This type of  Visa (BVC) allows you to stay in Australia while your application for a substantive visa is being processed. A BVC can be granted if you lodge an application in Australia for a substantive visa but you do not already hold a substantive visa. A BVC does not allow you to return to Australia if you leave.
  • Bridging visa D (subclass 040 and 041): This type of  Visa (BVD) is used in the case your substantive visa has already ended. It lets you stay in Australia lawfully for a short time (no more than 5 working days) until you are able to make a substantive visa application, make arrangements to leave Australia or are granted a Type E (BVE). It does not let you work or re-enter Australia if you leave.
  • Bridging visa E (subclass 050 and 051): This type of  Visa (BVE) is requested for situations where your visa has already ended. It is used for unlawful non-citizens and lets you stay in Australia while you make arrangements to leave, finalize your immigration matter or are waiting for an immigration decision. It does not let you re-enter Australia if you leave.

It is our concern, as a Registered Migration Agency with years of experience, to provide you with the most suitable solution in order to get your visa approved.

Bridging Visa FAQ

Can I work on a Bridging Visa?

It can be complicated to know whether a person on a bridging visa can legally work for a business or not.  There is not an exhaustive answer to this question as the working rights carried from your bridging visa depend on a number of factors that need to be assessed on a case by case.

My visa has expired but I’m still in Australia. What should I do?

If your visa has expired, you must call us or visit an Immigration office immediately. If you believe you can be in a tricky situation where you are not holding a visa, then the best option is to call us today quoting the problem and we will assist in the due course.

If you remain in Australia without a valid visa you may be placed in immigration detention and removed if you are located, as part of the Department’s compliance operations.

Our Migration Agent will contact the Community Status Resolution Service (CSRS) to request a Bridging Visa for you and to clarify what happens in your situation.

How much does it cost to apply?

The Visa Application Charges change constantly according to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s dispositions. Fees vary according to the family composition and other factors. For a more accurate answer, you can visit this site:
