Just when I thought we’d seen the best Australia has to offer, Exmouth proved me wrong.

The beaches there along the country’s western coast are truly incredible. We spent some time relaxing in the sun at Sandy Bay, a privately owned beach that is so secluded it feels like the rest of the world is miles and miles away. Exmouth is just a short drive from the Ningaloo Reef, one of the world’s largest fringing reefs. To reach Ningaloo, we only had to step into the clear, turquoise water and start snorkelling—it was that accessible. Snorkelling along the reef revealed a magical underwater world of otherworldly coral formations and colourful marine life. But my favourite thing about Exmouth was the experience of seeing baby sea turtles make their way to the water. Watching those tiny creatures take their first halting steps into the ocean was an experience that Francesco and I will never forget.
