Hurray for Perth!
As per today 09/06/2021 list from The Economist Intelligence Unit’s survey, Perth has made it to the top 10 most liveable cities in the world!
This is, no doubt, a great achievement for our wonderful city that places itself in 6th position beating Melbourne in 9th and Brisbane in 10th.
Despite the ranking, Australia and New Zealand must be very proud this year because 6 of the best places to live on Earth are right here.

This year we can definitely say that the West Coast as won over the East Coast: Melbourne held the title for 7 years until 2019, but now has dropped down to 9th, after enduring the nation’s longest COVID-19 lockdown last year, Sydney has been ranked in 11th position and Brisbane has made its entry this year in 10th position……
Maybe it is not so bad living in the most isolated city in the world?:)
| Covid- 19 role
Certainly Covid Pandemic has played a role in the decision of this list.
Starting from the making of the list itself, normally The Economist Intelligence Unit decides the ranking every year, but in 2020 no survey was conducted because was very difficult to have an impartial judgement due to the several lockdowns that have effected the economy all around the world.
“Many European and Canadian cities have fallen down the rankings, having battled a second COVID-19 wave by restricting cultural and sporting events, and closing schools and restaurants.” (EIU)
“Six of the top ten cities in the March 2021 survey are in New Zealand or Australia, where tight border controls have allowed residents to live relatively normal lives,” the EIU said as the report was released on Wednesday. (EIU)
