Latest News for Student visa holders

The Department of Home Affair has just release a really good news for student visa holder under subclass 500

Few days ago, Morrison Government has express its commitment to increase support for Australia’s tourism and hospitality sector and was planning to remove the visa condition of only 40hours per fortnight for those who work in the mentioned fields.

We were afraid that this would never become reality but here we are, this is finally official!

On the 10th of May 2021 a temporary relaxation of the limit on the working hours for student visa holder has been introduced by the Department of Home affair along with the Australian Government, but there are some condition.

| To whom it applies

Not all student visa holders can benefit from this new update.
The relaxation of the working restriction only applies to people working in the following sectors:

– AGRICULTURE
– HOSPITALITY
– TOURISM

Also, if you are:
– employed by a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme provider
– employed by an aged care Approved Provider or Commonwealth-funded aged care service provider with a RACS ID or a NAPS ID, before 8 September 20?20, then the said working restrictions will not apply to you.

This is such an amazing news both for workers and employers who are desperately looking for staff due to the current shortage because of the closed borders that won’t allow overseas backpacker to come and work mainly in the hospitality industry.
