Second WHV – Unpaid / WWOOF / Voluntary Job no more accepted
There are good announcements and bad announcements. At this time we have to give a bad news to our clients and perspective applicants for the Second Working Holiday Visa (or second WHV).
As you may be aware of, Italians and foreign visa holders of the first Working Holiday Visa are able to renew their stay in Australia of a further 12 months provided they perform 88 days of specified work in regional Australia during the 1st Working Holiday Visa.
Until the 30th of August 2015 your specified works could be performed either paid or unpaid provided it was performed in a regional area.
From the 31th of August 2015 you will be required to show that your work was conducted showing payslips.
What will happen to WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) work? If you performed the job BEFORE the 31th of August you may be able to get your second WHV even if the position was unpaid and even if you do not have any payslips to attach to your application.
What if I am offered a position in a regional area in exchange of Accommodation? This position will be counted as unpaid and unless you have a nominal payment to attach to this application then this will be no-eligible.
What should I do to make sure the days will be counted? You will need to make sure that the position is:
- Paid
- Registered to the ATO (Australian Taxation Office)
- Paid not in cash or if it is paid in cash you should ensure that taxes are being paid for the position. While cash-payments may be acceptable, these are hardly verifiable unless ATO documents are shown on top of the payments. Keep track of your days/hours and record any unpaid days

Cattive notizie per chi vuole applicare per il secondo working holiday visa facendo leva sul lavoro volontario sul WWOOF (lavoro volontario presso aziende organiche/biologiche).
A partire dal 31 agosto il lavoro fatto nelle zone rurali non sara’ piu’ valido ai fini del secondo working holiday visa (abbreviato anche come second WHV). Tutto il lavoro svolto prima di quella data e fino al 30 agosto sara’ valido.
Fino al 30 agosto italiani e stranieri che avevano il primo working holiday visa potevano rinnovare il loro visto svolgendo attivita’ pagata o non pagata purche’ rientrasse nei corretti codici postali e fosse nella giusta categoria lavorativa. Dal 31 agosto non sara’ piu’ cosi.
Dal 31 agosto ogni attivita’ lavorativa valida per il secondo working holiday visa deve essere corredata dalle buste paga altrimenti non verra’ considerata valida e il visto verra’ rifiutato.
Cosa accadra’ al WWOOF? Se il lavoro e’ stato eseguito prima del 31 agosto non devi preoccuparti! Se invece lavorerai dopo quella data, semplicemente non verra’ considerato a meno che non avrai delle buste paga di accompagnamento che siano in rispetto delle normative lavorative australiane.
Cosa succede se accetto di lavorare in cambio di Vitto/Alloggio? Non verra’ accettata senza le buste paga
Cosa devo avere per essere sicuro che i giorni siano validi ai fini della richiesta del Secondo Working Holiday visa?
- Buste paga
- Pagamenti delle tasse registrati
- Se pagato in contanti assicurati che siano versate le tasse. I pagamenti in contanti non sono ben visti dal Dipartimento di Immigrazione ma se ricevi pagamento contante assicurati che questo sia legale e che le tasse siano pagate
